We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jonathan Shu has filled the role of Associate Director for the Cornell Center for Materials Research. Jon brings a wealth of scientific and management expertise to this position.
Cornell users may already be familiar with Jon who has been involved with the CCMR Shared Facilities since 2003 when he became manager of the Center for Nanoscale Systems Shared Facility and Research Support Specialist for the CCMR Clark Materials Facility. In 2009 Jon became manager of the Clark Materials Facility. During his time in Clark Hall, Jon has overseen facility improvements and acquisition of many new instruments, and will continue to do so for all the CCMR facilities. Prior to his shared facility work, Jon received a PhD from Cornell’s Department of Materials Science & Engineering where he designed and built a substrate curvature measurement system and ultra-high vacuum system for in-situ thermomechanical studies of sputter deposited and passivated copper thin films.
