Cornell is collaborating with Rutgers University to bring Krios capabilities to Cornell researchers. The capability will be available some time in Fall 2024. Non-Cornell researchers will have access to the Krios by arranging time directly with Rutgers staff.
The Krios 3Gi, equipped with Gatan K3 camera with BioQuantum energy filter, is run at 300kV, and will enable the following types of measurements:
- single particle imaging,
- tomography (Tomo 5),
- Ceta-D for microED work
Cornell researchers should be aware of the following guidelines:
- anticipate ~3-4 days/month available to Cornell researchers, dependent on Krios uptime.
- CCMR staff will create schedule and arrange for shipping, using SubAngstrom cryo-EM pucks. Shipments will leave on a Monday or Tuesday and once received at Rutgers, will be scheduled. CCMR will provide shipping container. Labs are responsible for their own pucks.
- Researcher must indicated the use type (service, remote, or in-person) and number of hours (typically 24 hours or more)
- The Krios will be charged at a rate similar to the Arctica at Cornell. Researchers will pay for the scheduled time and is as the risk of the researcher if sending un-screened samples.
- Data can be accessed by method TBD (e.g. rsync or Globus).
