Watching the Dance of Atoms

Professor: David Muller

Project Description: We will be using the most powerful electron microscope in the world to image to motions of atoms inside materials and understand how that affects their properties.  With an angular resolution higher than the largest telescope, we will explore how re-arranging atoms can make actuators for nano-sized machines, or how atoms move when charging a battery, and where they get stuck.
