Development of Photocontrolled Polymerizations

Professor: Brett Fors

Brett ForsProject Description
: Having precise control over a polymer’s architecture and composition enables tuning of its function and allows the development of new technologies. On this basis, the REU project in the Fors group will focus on the development of new photocatalysts that will give spatial and temporal control of ring opening polymerizations by light. The regulation of these reactions with light will give rise to a diverse set of novel structures that can be utilized for a broad range of applications. This research offers experience in organic chemistry, polymer synthesis, and material science.
